Growing up in the Northwest, I have always been creatively inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us.  Some of my favorite memories include trips to the beach, hiking in the many national forests, and short drives over the mountains to the eastern side of Oregon.

When I was a teenager, I began to explore my artistic abilities and found great pleasure in any class that had to do with drawing, ceramics, design and painting.  I  knew as a Junior in high school that I would be an Art Major in College.

​

After getting my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Design from Pacific Lutheran University in 1996, I quickly learned that I enjoyed working with people more than computers. I readily ventured off into the Interior Decorating world with lots of creativity and little experience.

Starting work in 1997 for Tim's Carpet and Interiors as a salesperson, I quickly found a unique niche in assisting clients with design choices. Since my years at Tim’s, I have also worked alongside companies such as Cherry City Interiors, The Marble Center,  

Interiors by Design, and many others, sharing my specialty of assisting in design using a variety of floor coverings, slab selections, and tile, as well as helping with furniture choices.

Over the years, while starting a family, I had many opportunities to work on my own.  Getting back into the working field, I was employed by Kaufman Homes Inc. as their Interior Designer and Decorator from 2011 to 2014.  This was a wonderful experience for me as I learned very valuable and extensive building and design expertise from some of the best in Salem.

​

I started in Design Inspirations in 2014 as an intimate way to offer over 25 years of experience in decorating and design to the community. As you will see when you browse through this site, I have had the pleasure of working for a wide range of clients, helping with a vast array of projects. From lighting and furniture selections to design layout and cabinet drawings,  remodel or new construction of an entire home, I can guide you on all levels of design. 

 

I have a passion for design and decorating and I love working with people, so making your home or office represent and function well for your lifestyle is important to me.

Julie is a find! She was the project manager and designer for my complete master and guest bathroom remodel, kitchen remodels, including new flooring for my kitchen/family room, lighting throughout, and custom mirrors. In addition to design expertise, Julie also keeps a careful watch on subs to ensure quality workmanship. Her high standards ensure a superior finished project.

I definitely recommend this professional and will continue to use her. I purchased a house that needed a lot of interior changes. Julie is great at listening to what I wanted as a final result. She then translated what I asked for along with what was needed with the result that I have a home now and not just a house. She worked with existing colors that could not be changed. New carpet, window treatments, and wall color throughout the house were added. The utility room was large with mostly unusable space. She planned a wonderful creation of cabinets, a sink, and a countertop so that now it is a usable space with storage and a place to fold clothes, and a sink for hand washables. The cabinets style fits the style of the other rooms. Julie knows where to purchase items and the names of people to install them. She also helped me find the right furniture which was the final touch for my home. I cannot thank her enough for my comfortable and beautiful home.
